A church where people feel safe

At The Living God Church Exeter, we want everyone to be treated with dignity and respect. Children and adults should be able to take part in church life without abuse, neglect, bullying or exploitation. Concerns deserve to be heard, whoever they involve.

If you are worried about someone

Call 999 if someone is in immediate danger. You can contact the police or social care directly; you do not need permission from the church or proof that abuse has happened. For a non-emergency crime, contact the police on 101.

For a child in Devon, call the Children’s Front Door on 0345 155 1071. For an adult at risk in Devon, call Adult Social Care on 0345 155 1007. Usual opening hours are Monday–Thursday, 9am–5pm, and Friday, 9am–4pm. Outside those hours, including weekends and bank holidays, call 0345 600 0388. Outside Devon County Council’s area, contact the relevant local council.

Contacting the church

To ask how to speak privately with the person responsible for safeguarding at church, email tlgc.exe@gmail.com. Please do not send detailed allegations or confidential records to this general email address or the website form. These are not continuously monitored. Use the services above for urgent concerns, if a church contact is unavailable, or if you would prefer to report independently.

Listening and responding

If someone shares a concern, listen calmly and take them seriously. Do not investigate it yourself or promise to keep it secret. Information may need to be shared with the appropriate people to protect someone. Nobody should be pressured to stay silent or withdraw a report.

This page explains how to raise a concern. Contact the church for information about safeguarding arrangements for a particular activity.
